Woody’s Sportsbook at Wildwood Casino in Cripple Creek opened this week and is the fourth retail sportsbook in Colorado. It is Cripple Creek’s first retail betting outlet and enters BetWildwood.com‘s mobile betting platform at the location.
The new sportsbook is located inside Woody’s Sports Bar and Grill and features a large bar and menu, a TV wall, and two ticket windows sponsored by a variety of betting kiosks. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the sportsbook operates under appropriate health and safety measures.
On 15 June, Wildwood Casino reopened and introduced a range of health/safety procedures including on-demand cleaning crews, temperature controls, hand sanitizer stations and UV light technologies. Throughout this time, all guests at the casino are expected to wear masks late in the week under the statewide mandate provided by Colorado Governor Jared Polis.
Casino general manager Matt Andrighetti commented on retail sportsbook opening despite delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, saying: “We’re excited to welcome sports bettors to the premier of our sportsbook. It’s been a long wait getting to this day with the pandemic canceling sporting events, but we’ve made it.”
The Wildwood sportsbook and its mobile betting app are operated by ISI Race & Sports based in Las Vegas which specializes in providing software and solutions for B2B sports betting. The company was responsible for creating the first self-service kiosks used in Nevada and collaborated with William Hill and IGT before.
Wildwood Casino operator Joseph J Canfora of American Gaming Group accepted the chance to collaborate with ISI. He said: “Wildwood has become the market leader for casinos in Cripple Creek and we wanted a partner who could help us achieve the same status for retail and online sports betting.
“We are able to combine our extensive knowledge of the local Colorado market with ISI’s 20 years offering sports betting services and the Amelco betting platform and native mobile apps to create a winning experience for our customers.”
Bill Sterns, the President of ISI noted: “We are very excited about the opportunity to help bring sports betting to Colorado. We’ve been doing this for more than 20 years and have developed best practices that help our partners get out of the gate early and maintain their lead in sports betting.”
